This course comprises the following modules:

• OpenView Storage Area Manager Overview - This module is a short overview reviewing the basic functions of OpenView Storage Area Manager and how it works. The purpose is to ensure students use the same terms and concepts used in practice and to provide transition to the more complex topics that follow.
• OpenView Storage Area Manager Troubleshooting Tools and Methodology - This module lists tools and resources for troubleshooting OpenView Storage Area Manager.
• Controller Architecture and Host Dependencies - This module covers the controller architectures and hosts that OpenView Storage Area Manager monitors. It includes overview concepts from "hp Storageworks san design," a document which covers SAN architecture principles and rules for SAN design. This module then covers the problems unique to the several architectures and host operating environments that SAM monitors.
• Troubleshooting OpenView Storage Area Manager Processes - This module is lab-focused and covers each of the major processes that comprise SAM including installation, device discovery and mapping, host deployment, and communications.
• Troubleshooting OpenView Storage Area Manager: Best Practices - This module is case study-oriented and covers "best practices" for implementing and troubleshooting OpenView Storage Area Manager installations.

Modules are organized in process sequence for students learning how to troubleshoot SAM. The course covers only tools and methods for troubleshooting; it does not cover SAM functionality, except as that functionality relates to troubleshooting.

Introduction to SANS WBT (16929)

This course is intended for HP service personnel and channel partners who provide installation and/or support assistance.

Registration may be canceled without tuition charge if Hewlett-Packard Training Registration receives notification of cancellation twenty-one business days prior to class. Cancellations made twenty to three business days prior to class will incur a $150 cancellation charge ($210 in Canada, plus applicable taxes). Cancellations made two business days prior or less to class date and/or no-shows will incur the full tuition charge.

All course offerings are dependent on classroom, equipment and instructor availability. Hewlett-Packard reserves the right to cancel or change a class at any time without liability to the attendee for costs incurred due to such cancellations or changes, including, but not limited to, cancellation penalties for transportation or accommodations.
