Course overview

Servicing HP ProLiant Server Products training focuses on using service information resources, utilities, and diagnostic tools to install, configure, troubleshoot and repair ProLiant Server products. The student will become familiar with the technology, features, component layout, and service considerations for ProLiant server hardware as a foundation for the diagnostic process. Lab exercises provide the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience with HP ProLiant server products and tools. Activities include subsystem configuration, setting up drive array fault tolerance, use of utilities, and web-based management of ProLiant servers.

Certification/Exam information: This training is designed to assist in preparation for the Accredited Platform Specialist (APS) certification exam for ProLiant servers (HP2-061). For certification and additional exam details, see: http://www.hp.com/go/certification.

Prerequisites

The prerequisite classes and experience provide critical preparation for the HP ProLiant server maintenance exam, number HP2-061.

  • HP ProLiant Family (course ID 205) (4 hours)
  • Server Basics (course ID 209) (4 hours) - strongly recommended for those who have not completed CompTIA Server+ training before taking the new Servicing HP ProLiant Server course

In addition, HP strongly recommends the following web based courses for service partners. These are not prerequisites for this training or considered preparation for the APS-level certification exam. These courses include:

  • Troubleshooting HP StorageWorks Nearline devices using Library and Tape Tools (course 30677)
  • Smart Drive Diagnosis Tool (course 31930)
  • NFF ISS Memory Training (course 32127)

Instructions for accessing Web-based courses on the Learning Center:

  • Enter your student ID number and your last name
  • Click "Available courses"
  • Choose "Grouped by subject" from the drop down menu
  • Choose your course from the displayed list
  • The course information datasheet will provide you with the description of the course and estimated duration of the class

It is important to complete the prerequisites for this course. Failure to complete the prerequisites could result in failure to receive service authorization.

Audience

This course is designed for students who have the required certifications or equivalent knowledge and experience. The course is available to HP partners, HP customers, and internal HP employees. It is intended for first and second level support professionals who are responsible for servicing and supporting HP ProLiant Server products.
