This course provides training for the HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array storage system, including the eva5000 and eva3000. The course describes hardware components and functions in detail, including the HSV controller, disk drive enclosure, FC loop switch, and Storage Management Appliance. Details are provided on how the Enterprise Virtual Array storage system implements virtualization, and instructions are given on how to set up, configure, and manage the storage system using Command View EVA software and the Storage System Scripting Utility (SSSU). This course also describes how error messages are generated and analyzed, defines the best practices for configuring storage, and provides troubleshooting resources. Hands-on laboratories are included to correlate with the classroom materials.
The latest update of the Enterprise Virtual Array reflects the release of VCS V3.020. This version includes support for low cost drives, increased eva3000 modularity, and enhanced serviceability. The course reflects the use of Storage Management Appliance Software V2.1 and Command View EVA V3.2, as well as the Storage Management Appliance Generation 3 (G3) hardware. An updated section on Phone Home capabilities includes information on the current solution using Instant Support Enterprise Edition (ISEE) with various analysis tools. Laboratory materials are updated to reflect field service issues dealing with any new hardware or software.
