Course overview

This course provides training on the enterprise modular library (EML) E-series. An in-depth view of the product categories, components, capacity and performance is presented. Installation, operation, configuration, troubleshooting, conversions, and FRU remove and replace procedures are also discussed. During the lab portion of this course, the students will apply their knowledge in various scenarios.

This course does not cover training for the following:

  • Basic SCSI interfaces
  • Basic L&TT functionality
  • Basic Command View TL functionality
  • SAN connectivity foundations
  • Backup software
  • Enterprise Backup Solutions

Prerequisites

In order to successfully complete this course, the student should have the following:

  • Completed HP StorageWorks Enterprise Modular Library Service and Support WBT
  • Basic knowledge of tape technologies and standalone tape drives
  • Basic knowledge of Library and Tape Tools (L&TT)
  • Basic knowledge of Command View TL
  • SAN connectivity foundations
  • Basic knowledge of SCSI interfaces

Audience

The target audience for this course is HP Services field engineers; call center personnel, and other field personnel who provide installation and/or operational support assistance. The course will give the students the information and background required to support the EML E-Series products by providing hands-on lab experiences.

Course objective

In this lecture/lab you will:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the HP StorageWorks Enterprise Modular Library (EML)
  • Install and configure an EML
  • Test the initial setup parameter values
  • Perform typical library operations using the front panel
  • Perform maintenance tasks
  • Remove and replace critical FRUs
