Course overview

This course provides training on ultra density optical (UDO) jukeboxes, as well as a review of the existing magneto optical drives and jukeboxes. After a review of basic MO and UDO history, a more in-depth view of the product categories, components, capacity and performance is presented. Installation, operation, configuration, troubleshooting, conversions, and FRU remove and replace procedures are discussed. During the lab portion of this course, the students will apply their knowledge in various scenarios.

The course combines existing MO training and new UDO training into one course in order to present the entire Optical Storage product family.

This course does not cover training for the following:

  • Basic SCSI interfaces
  • Basic L&TT functionality
  • SAN connectivity foundations
  • Backup software
  • Enterprise Backup Solutions

Prerequisites

MANDATORY Pre-requisite: 

  • Completion of HP StorageWorks Optical Products Service & Maintenance (UDO & MO) pre-requisite WBT, and passing score on HP StorageWorks Optical Products Service & Maintenance (UDO & MO) ILT pre-test.

In order to successfully complete this course, the student should also have the following:

  • Basic knowledge of tape technologies and standalone tape drives, including:
    • Magneto optical storage.
    • Entry-level tape automation products.
    • Mid-range and Enterprise level tape libraries.
  • Basic knowledge of Library and Tape Tools (L&TT).
  • SAN connectivity foundations.
  • Basic knowledge of SCSI interfaces.

Audience

This course is intended for HP Services field engineers; call center personnel, channel partners, and other field personnel who provide installation and/or operational support assistance.

Cancellation policy

Registration may be canceled without tuition charge if Hewlett-Packard Training Registration receives notification of cancellation twenty-one business days prior to class. Cancellations made twenty to three business days prior to class will incur a $150 cancellation charge ($210 in Canada, plus applicable taxes). Cancellations made two business days prior or less to class date and/or no-shows will incur the full tuition charge.

All course offerings are dependent on classroom, equipment and instructor availability. Hewlett-Packard reserves the right to cancel or change a class at any time without liability to the attendee for costs incurred due to such cancellations or changes, including, but not limited to, cancellation penalties for transportation or accommodations.
