Course overview

This course provides training for the HP StorageWorks ESL E-Series tape library service & support. The course reviews hardware components, supported hardware and software, capacity and performance, installation procedures, operation, troubleshooting, and FRU remove/replace procedures. Hands-on laboratories are included to correlate with the classroom materials.

The lab portions of this course will provide the student with a hands-on opportunity to become familiar with the library components as well as operate and troubleshoot the product and perform remove and replace procedures. There will also be lab exercises installing the Interface Manager card and using Command View ESL software. 

This course does not cover training for the following:

  • General storage and tape backup concepts
  • SAN connectivity foundations
  • Backup software
  • Enterprise Backup Solutions

Prerequisites

Before registering for this course, the student must have completed the following course: HP ESL712E(LTO)/630E(SDLT) Library Pre-requisite WBT (Catalog Code 14779). Students may be required to complete an assessment based on content from the WBT.

In addition, to successfully complete this course, the student should also have knowledge of or experience in the following:

  • SAN connectivity
  • Storage Area Network Fundamentals
  • SAN connectivity field experience
  • Knowledge of Library and Tape Tools (L&TT)

Audience

This course is intended for HP service personnel and channel partners who provide installation and/or support assistance.

Cancellation policy

Registration may be canceled without tuition charge if Hewlett-Packard Training Registration receives notification of cancellation twenty-one business days prior to class. Cancellations made twenty to three business days prior to class will incur a $150 cancellation charge ($210 in Canada, plus applicable taxes). Cancellations made two business days prior or less to class date and/or no-shows will incur the full tuition charge.

All course offerings are dependent on classroom, equipment and instructor availability. Hewlett-Packard reserves the right to cancel or change a class at any time without liability to the attendee for costs incurred due to such cancellations or changes, including, but not limited to, cancellation penalties for transportation or accommodations.
